One of the most recognizable features of God of War, the highly appreciated "re-launch" of the adventures of Kratos by Santa Monica Studios is undoubtedly the framing system, expected as a single pianosequenza that never abandons the protagonist.
This is a choice firmly desired by the game director Cory Barlog who had in mind such a feature for several years, as told by Mikael Kasurinen of Remedy Entertainment in a recent interview
The two have in fact worked together for a short period for Avalanche Studios specifically in 2015 on the title Mad Max before both took different paths. According to Kasurinen, even then Barlog had tried to propose to implement this idea in the game.
"It was interesting, the ideas we had for Mad Max then I saw them appear in God of War. of the camera always with you, as if it were a single sequence, was what he wanted to do in Mad Max. It was funny that he managed to make it in God of War ".
According to what already emerged a little moreover, the same technique should have been implemented in Tomb Raider by Crystal Dynamics to which Barlog had also worked, but even here he had not been able to put it into practice. It seems, therefore, that the idea has been shaken in mind for a while, but that he managed to realize it only when he was given a key role as a game director in God of War. What do you think? In the end it was a just intuition?
